wednesday june 16th was our first csa pick up on the elmer farm. we offered our members the following:
head lettuce
garlic scapes
zucchini
beets (golden, chiogga or red)
haikurei turnips
kale
chard (swiss or rainbow)
broccoli
blue potatoes (2009)
black beans
we have a total of 18 members this year. we also partnered with a senior housing group in middlebury to offer 19 senior shares for a 10 week duration starting in mid-july.
black beans are looking great in the field. our best stand to date on the elmer farm. the flower beds are brigtening up with blooms of zinnias, snapdragons, cosmos, calendula and bachelor buttons. our first succession of snap peas have already passed and we are patiently waiting for our second succession.
we don't grow strawberries and haven't picked yet this year. i can't let the opportunity pass us by. we will try to pick this week.
